massage therapist redcliffe

So many names in one industry: massage therapy, remedial massage, sports massage, remedial therapy, soft tissue therapy... so confusing! Rest assured, whatever you call it, massage therapy is highly beneficial for people who are involved with sports. It relieves pain and improves performance - and we can definitely help you with finding a massage therapist, Redcliffe. We are based at Dolphins Fitness and Aquatic Centre on Klingner Road.
To reduce pain, our remedial massage therapists and myotherapists have in-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and biomechanics, and use a combination of:
  • hands-on massage techniques
  • joint mobilisation
  • cupping
  • dry needling
  • kenesiotaping
  • corrective and rehabilitative exercise
  • training load advice for injury management

Emma is unreal and so very talented at what she does. My neck was so incredibly tender and in just one appointment Emma managed to release most of my pain. Emma is extremely knowledgeable and has even taught me a few things about my own body I didn’t even notice/know. Definitely will be something I do for myself to make it part of my self care routine to go back every few months! Georgia
Years after rupturing a tendon in my shoulder I had become accustomed to the chronic pain and resigned to the injury impeding my progress on my fitness journey. After receiving various different prognoses from medical professionals, I saw a Facebook post from Pain Free Fitness and decided to give it a try. In just a few visits, Kathy was able to release the tension in my shoulder to enable me to gain more range of movement than I ever thought would be possible. She has provided me with so much valuable information on how to manage my body to get the most out of it and proceed with my fitness. I can’t say strongly enough how Kathy has improved my ability, and reduced my pain and I’m so glad that I took the step of seeing her. Belinda
Our therapists treat lots of runners with sports remedial massage therapy.

What can we help you with?

Often pain stems from an underlying protective mechanism that the body has initiated in response to instability around a joint. The brain signals muscle spasm to lock down the joint to prevent injury, and this results in changes to the overall mechanics around the joint and across the body. It starts as a feeling of tension in one group of muscles, and can end up causing pain at that joint, or somewhere else entirely.

Our assessment focuses on the cause of your pain - so don't be surprised if you come in with neck pain and we do some work on your hips! But once the cause is dealt with, we can more easily melt away the symptoms and send you off pain free - and in the knowledge that the pain won't be coming back.

To make the change permanent, we also need to fight the cause of the original problem. Where we identify that there is a mechanical cause or an underlying weakness, once you are pain-free you start strengthening the muscles to prevent recurrence. We don't do this in isolation - muscles need to be strengthened in conjucntion with the other muscles they work in teams with. Otherwise, the same patterning will happen again and pain will come back again.
